Judicial Attitude Survey 2016

The results of an online questionnaire which was sent to all salaried members of the judiciary in Scotland to give them the opportunity to provide their views on serving as a judge have been published.

The Judicial Attitude Survey, which was conducted on behalf of the Lord President and the Chief Justices in the UK by the Judicial Institute of University College London, sought feedback on a number of key areas.

The findings of the survey informed the judiciary’s submissions to the Senior Salaries Review Body, which makes recommendations to the UK Government on the appropriate level of pay for senior positions in public service including judges, the military and the civil service, making comparisons across the public and private sector. A similar exercise was carried out in 2014.
