Sentencing Statements

In cases where there is public interest or where the sentence may be complicated or controversial, the judge may decide to make the sentencing statement more widely available. You can read the judge’s full statement here once sentence has been passed.

We also issue tweets to alert our followers as soon as statements are published. Follow Us.

The Office of Senator of the College of Justice

The Judicial Appointments Board for Scotland invites applications from suitably qualified individuals who wish to be considered for appointment to the office of Senator of the College of Justice by April 2016. The Judicial Office for Scotland has informed the Board that there will be three positions available.

Please apply online via the link below and submit your completed application form no later than midnight on Friday 11th December 2015 

You will need to register with the Board the first time you complete an online application form.   

Within the Application Pack you will find a documentation named Guidance Note for Applicants which contains full details of the eligibility requirements and the criteria for appointment.

On present plans, the interviews will take place on Friday 4th, Monday 7th, Tuesday 8th and Wednesday 9th March 2016 at the Board’s offices in Edinburgh.
