In cases where there is public interest or where the sentence may be complicated or controversial, the judge may decide to make the sentencing statement more widely available. You can read the judge’s full statement here once sentence has been passed.

At the High Court in Glasgow today, 25 April 2019, Lord Armstrong sentenced David McMullan to eight years and seven months’ imprisonment after the accused was found guilty of the attempted murder of a two-year-old boy.

At the High Court in Edinburgh today, 23 April 2019, Lord Pentland imposed a sentence of eight years on James Adam, after the accused was convicted of a series of sexual offences committed against three young girls during a period of around 25 years.

HMA v Joshua John Hunter

Sentencing Statements

At the High Court in Edinburgh today, 18 April 2019, Lord Pentland imposed an extended sentence of six years on Joshua Hunter after the accused pled guilty to rape. The custodial part will be four years, which will be followed by an extension period of two years on licence.

At the High Court in Glasgow today, 16 April 2019, Lord Arthurson sentenced Kyle Stewart to six years’ imprisonment and Lewis Leah to three-and-a-half years after the two accused pled guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine and heroin.
