At the High Court in Edinburgh today, 2 August 2018, Lady Scott sentenced Paul Beattie to nine years’ imprisonment after the accused was found guilty of the culpable homicide of James Gatti.

HMA v James Cook, Peter Brown and Jamie Cook

Sentencing Statements

At the High Court in Glasgow today, 30 July 2018, Lord Matthews sentenced James Cook, Peter Brown and Jamie Cook to life imprisonment after the three accused were found guilty of the murder of Jason McCue. James Cook was given a punishment part of 16 years and four months, Peter Brown was given a punishment part of 18 years, and Jamie Cook was given a punishment part of 17 years and three months.

HMA v Reece Ford

Sentencing Statements

At the High Court in Edinburgh today, 19 July 2018, Lord Pentland imposed an extended sentence of 13 years on Reece Ford after the accused pled guilty to the repeated rape of two children. The custodial term will 10 years, which will be followed by an extension period of three years on licence.

Determination following examination of facts in HMA v Alan McDonald

At the High Court in Edinburgh today, 18 July 2018, Temporary Judge Craig A L Scott QC found that the accused Alan McDonald raped and indecently assaulted two children following an examination of facts, and made no order in terms of section 57(2)(e) of the Criminal Procedure (Scotland) Act 1995.

HMA v Daryl Howard

At the High Court in Glasgow today, 12 July 2018, Lady Rae sentenced Daryl Howard to an extended sentence of 10 years and eight months after the accused pled guilty to the attempted murder of his mother Eleanor Howard. The custodial part will be six years and eight months, which will be followed by an extension period of four years on licence.
