In cases where there is public interest or where the sentence may be complicated or controversial, the judge may decide to make the sentencing statement more widely available. You can read the judge’s full statement here once sentence has been passed.
We also issue tweets to alert our followers as soon as statements are published. .

Sentencing Statements
At the High Court in Edinburgh Lord Uist imposed an order for lifelong restriction on Mark Ian Rutter, with a punishment part set at 2 years 8 months imprisonment, after he pled guilty to assault and robbery at William Hill Bookmakers in Dalkeith on 23 August 2012.

Sentencing Statements
At the High Court at Glasgow . Lord Doherty sentenced Martin Middleton to a total of six years and 4 months in prison after he pled guilty to a charge of house breaking and assault and robbery, and to a further charge of attempting to defeat the ends of justice.
