In cases where there is public interest or where the sentence may be complicated or controversial, the judge may decide to make the sentencing statement more widely available. You can read the judge’s full statement here once sentence has been passed.

HMA v ELLIOT JORGENSEN & ANTHONY BOYD

Sentencing Statements

At the High Court in Glasgow Lord Matthews sentenced Elliot Jorgensen and Anthony Boyd after they pled guilty to involvement in an armed robbery at Rox Jewellers, Edinburgh on 15 January 2013. Elliot Jorgensen was given an extended sentence of 15 years, with a punishment part of 12 years imprisonment, and Anthony Boyd was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment.

HMA v THOMAS NOLAN

Sentencing Statements

At the High Court in Edinburgh Lord Uist imposed an order for lifelong restriction on Thomas Nolan after he pled guilty to assaulting a man to his severe injury, permanent disfigurement, permanent impairment and to the danger of his life, and attempting to murder him in Glasgow on 19 October 2012. The punishment part was set at 4 years and 8 months imprisonment.

At the High Court in Edinburgh Lord Uist sentenced Paul Spencer Dettlaff to 5 years 10 months imprisonment after he pled guilty to having been concerned in the supply of controlled drugs, and driving whilst disqualified and without insurance in Aberdeen on 15 and 16 March 2013.

At the High Court in Edinburgh Lord Uist imposed an order for lifelong restriction on Mark Ian Rutter, with a punishment part set at 2 years 8 months imprisonment, after he pled guilty to assault and robbery at William Hill Bookmakers in Dalkeith on 23 August 2012.
