In cases where there is public interest or where the sentence may be complicated or controversial, the judge may decide to make the sentencing statement more widely available. You can read the judge’s full statement here once sentence has been passed.

At the High Court in Edinburgh on 17 December 2015, Lord Uist sentenced Arthur Cummings to six years imprisonment with a further extension period of three years on licence after the accused pleaded guilty to assault to injury with intent to rob.

HMA v Mourad Mosdefaoui

At Edinburgh Sheriff Court on 9 December 2015, Sheriff Frank Crowe sentenced Mourad Mosdefaoui to two years imprisonment and made him subject to the notification requirements of section 45 of the Counter Terrorism Act 2006 for a period of 10 years after the accused pled guilty to posting pro-ISIL images on Facebook and being in possession of a false Belgian identity card.
