The Scottish Courts in the 21st Century

The Lord President, Lord Carloway, has delivered the keynote address at the Law Society of Scotland’s 2017 annual conference.

In his speech, entitled ‘The Scottish Courts in the 21st Century’, the Lord President discusses the selection of the judiciary, judicial case management and digital innovation; all of which are essential to achieving the key purpose of the justice system, namely to ensure the practical and effective enforcement of rights and the prosecution of alleged offenders, in a manner which delivers high quality decisions, within a reasonable time and at a reasonable cost.
