Additional Support Needs Tribunal transfers into First-tier Tribunal for Scotland

The Additional Support Needs Tribunal for Scotland (ASNTS) transfers into the Health and Education Chamber of the First-tier Tribunal for Scotland with effect from 12 January 2018.

May Dunsmuir, the current President of the ASNTS, is the President of the Chamber.

The Scottish Charity Appeals Panel (SCAP) also transfers into the General Regulatory Chamber of the First-tier Tribunal with effect from 12 January 2018.

The Lord President is responsible for the making and maintaining of appropriate arrangements for training, guidance and welfare of members of the First-tier Tribunal.

The Lord President has delegated his responsibility for the efficient disposal of business, the review of ordinary and legal members, and the policies for assignment of the ordinary, legal and judicial members within the First-tier Tribunal and the Upper Tribunal, to Lady Smith, the President of Scottish Tribunals.

The transfer into the First-tier Tribunal of ASNTS and SCAP follow the transfer of Housing and Property tribunals, and the Scottish Tax Tribunal in December 2016 and April 2017 respectively. Over the next few years other devolved tribunals will transfer into the First-tier Tribunal.

There will be a relocation of SCTS tribunals administration and judiciary from 1 Atlantic Quay, Glasgow into premises at 3 Atlantic Quay in spring 2018. HMCTS tribunals facilities currently located at Wellington House, Glasgow will also relocate to 3 Atlantic Quay at that time, creating a new dedicated Tribunals Centre.
