Appointment of new Sheriffs Principal

New Sheriffs Principal for the Sheriffdoms of Glasgow and Strathkelvin and Lothian and Borders

Sheriff Mhairi Stephen has taken up her appointment today as Sheriff Principal of Lothian and Borders, succeeding Sheriff Principal Bowen following his retirement.

Sheriff Craig Scott took up his appointment as Sheriff Principal of Glasgow and Strathkelvin on 1 May 2011, succeeding Sheriff Principal Taylor.

Sheriffs principal are appointed by Her Majesty the Queen following a nomination from the First Minister based on a report from the independent Judicial Appointments Board for Scotland.
