New Sheriff Principal for Tayside, Central and Fife

Sheriff Marysia Lewis has today taken up her appointment as the new Sheriff Principal of Tayside, Central and Fife.

She replaces Sheriff Principal Alastair Dunlop, who had been the Sheriff Principal for the sheriffdom for 15 years until his retirement on 30 April 2015.

Marysia Lewis graduated with an LLB from the University of Strathclyde in 1979.

After completing her apprenticeship at Dunlop Gordon & Smythe (1979-81) she became a solicitor at Monklands District Council (1981-83) and City of Aberdeen District Council (1983-87).

She then moved to Ledingham Chalmers LLP (formerly Edmonds & Ledingham) firstly as solicitor and thereafter partner (1987-2008).

She was appointed a part-time sheriff in 2006 and a sheriff in 2008.

An official installation was held in Perth Sheriff Court on 1 May 2015.
