Scottish Civil Justice Council – recruitment of a solicitor member

Following the appointment of Scottish Civil Justice Council solicitor member Duncan Murray as Sheriff Principal of North Strathclyde, the Scottish Civil Justice Council is advertising a vacancy for a replacement solicitor member.

Applications are sought by noon, Thursday 28 August 2014.  

The Scottish Civil Justice Council is responsible for preparing draft rules of procedure for the civil courts and advising the Lord President on the development of the civil justice system in Scotland. In particular, the SCJC is responsible for supporting the once in a generation programme of civil courts reform as proposed in Lord Gill’s Scottish Civil Courts Review

The Scottish Civil Justice Council was established on 28 May 2013 under The Scottish Civil Justice Council and Criminal Legal Assistance Act 2013. The SCJC replaced the Court of Session Rules Council and the Sheriff Court Rules Council.  

The Lord President published a Statement of Appointment Practice in respect of appointments to the Council on 5 March 2013.
