Judicial Appointments Board for Scotland

Senator of the College of Justice

The Board invites applications from suitably qualified individuals who wish to be considered for appointment to vacancies in the office of Senator of the College of Justice. The Board has been advised by the Judicial Office for Scotland that there are at least two positions available. If any further vacancies arise for this judicial office whilst this exercise is in progress, it is our intention to make our recommendations to the First Minister from the outcome of this exercise.

Senators sit in the Court of Session and the High Court of Justiciary. Selection is made solely on merit. The Board recognises the need for a judiciary in Scotland that is reflective of our society and is drawn from across all sections of the legal profession and encourages and welcomes applications from the widest possible range of eligible individuals. The Board would particularly welcome applications from women, people with a disability or those from an ethnic minority background.

Further information including eligibility criteria can be obtained from our website www.judicialappointmentsscotland.org.uk, or from the Secretary to the Board, Judicial Appointments Board for Scotland, 38–39 Drumsheugh Gardens, Edinburgh EH3 7SW (DX: ED29, Edinburgh), Telephone 0131 528 5101.

Applications should be completed online and submitted no later than 5.00pm on Friday 6th September 2013. Interviews will take place between 30th October and 6th November 2013.
